War And Peace

By XinYun (Leah) Cui

Gun shots are exploding in my ear,
Anxiousness rises up in the air,
I feel the sweat as I hold up my gun,
Ready to fight when the enemies come.

Hiding behind an old dead tree,
I see brave soldiers trembling like me,
What if instead of guns and bombs,
We replace them with kindness and calm.

Think about my family and friends,
Imagining them worried to death.
I close my eyes as tears run down,
Peacefulness forever forgotten and gone.

As a boom of gun shoots and I fall,
Wake up in the hospital seeing my parents beside the wall,
Ignoring the pain of my injured shoulder,
I give them a hug and burst into tears.
