AllPoets’ stance on faith in writing

“When we manage to make something pretty, it's only because we are ourselves a flourish on a greater canvas.”
— Andrew Peterson, Adorning The Dark

If you haven’t pieced it together through the work we publish and the way we talk, AllPoets is run by Christian folk. We believe that the image of the Creator God has stamped every human being as his own; the creative spark inside each of our authors is due to that image-bearing. We believe that our ultimate calling on this earth is to glorify that same Creator by talking about him all the time. Like, until we get obnoxious.

Because of that faith, you’ll notice references to the Triune God all throughout our poetry pages and our resource documents. We’re not looking for religious platitudes, but rather engagement with truths that can be enjoyed by Christians and non-Christians alike. We love to publish poems and essays that think deeply about the Christian faith!

On the other hand, AllPoets is called AllPoets for a reason. Our primary commitment as an organization is to the craft of writing. We want to celebrate any writer working to bring goodness, truth, and beauty into the world. A poem doesn’t have to directly mention Jesus to do that — in fact, it can even wrestle seriously with doubt and darkness while still doing that. We believe that God is glorified anywhere that his truth is proclaimed, even if the truth is as universal as “There is hope!” or “Life is hard!”

Dear reader or poet or parent or child, we hope that even if you disagree with what we believe, you will still resonate with these universal truths. This space is a home and community for you, too. If you have any questions or thoughts or doubts or concerns, reach out to us, please!

And if we get a little obnoxious talking about our Creator all the time, forgive us. We’re just excited.
